The path to becoming a conscious elder in these turbulent times requires an open heart and an open mind…

...along with a desire to share one’s life learning with the next generation. How can Elders be in right relation to the youth they are committed to serving?

Join a circle of elders-in-training as we consider how to mentor youth who are undergoing their own rites of passage, and who need the gentle witness and guiding hand of a conscious elder in order to uncover the meaning of their journey.

Have you been feeling a longing to be in service to youth?

Are you drawn to explore the unique gifts of Elderhood — and new roles you could play in your community?

An Invitation….
Rite of Passage Journeys has been guiding youth rites of passage for 50 years. We are in need of more Conscious Elders to help our youth navigate the passage to adolescence and adulthood. We invite you to join us in a conversation about the gifts of Eldering.

  • You’ll take away ideas which will you can take back to serve your own community needs.
  • You may also be inspired to join us at one of our summer rite of passage journeys to support these courageous youth!

We look forward to connecting as together we grow as Elders in these times.

Guided by Journeys Elders:

Randy bio pic vest sized

Randy Morris, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus at Antioch University Seattle where he supervised the Spiritual Studies and Psychology areas of concentration. He continues to teach classes in dreams, mythology, depth psychology and eco-spirituality, and has a private mentoring practice. Randy is President Emeritus of the Board of Directors of Rite of Passage Journeys, and led vision quests for many years. He is editor of the book "Rites of Passage into Elderhood."

Nancy

Nancy Lanphear has lived in intentional community for 41 years. She and Fred, her husband, along with their children, were voluntary staff of the Ecumenical Institute and the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA), serving in Kenya, India and the USA for 18 years. Working with villagers and local governments in these other countries gave their lives a global perspective — and one full of adventure. Nancy has been connected to Rite of Passage Journeys in several ways since its first journey: a 6th grade trip for teens of ICA staff. Journeys summer basecamp has been located on Songaia property since 1987. There Nancy serves as surrogate parent or grandparent for participants who arrive without their family; supports staff with programs, such as sharing time with the young girls as part of an Elder wisdom circle before and after their journey; and now also serves on the Board.

Frost Freeman

Frost Holladay spent several months of 2013 preparing for her own Elderhood Celebration, a new version of life.  Her training and experience include being a licensed counselor, energy psychology, the power of mind and heart, nature and the medicine wheel, and spiritual skills.  She loves working with people who want clarity about their life in a deeper way, and vision and direction in a spirit-to-practicality continuum. One of her greatest strengths is the ability to "see" something of a person's true being, even at times when they cannot.  Frost loves dance and water slides.
