“We’re going to do it like they’ve been doing it for thousands of years. We’re going to make it up as we go along.” Stan Crow, 1939 - 2009
Ritual surrounds us. Our days are marked by hundreds of small actions that are performed for a certain reason or at specific moments in the day. Even something as small and common as saying “Hello” to a friend is a ritual.
Ritual comes in many shapes and will be created and practiced by humans for all of time – as it helps us find meaning and create rhythm or connection within our lives. Big or small, private or public, religious or secular – ritual spans from the simplest “Hello” to the highest of sacred practice. Ritual is a critical part of our ever-evolving lives.
The symbolic art of big ritual – for example, those rituals that provide a clear transition from adolescence to adulthood or that mark the change of seasons from winter to spring – is seemingly being lost in our conglomerate of worldly traditions. Many of us have not been mentored into the art of creating or leading soulful (big or small) ritual within our communities – this is often something that we leave for gurus, specialist, elders, or just someone other than ourselves.
A participant on the Adult Quest participates in a ritual of return.
This weekend introduction workshop, Creating Soulful Ritual, is meant to help you awaken the ritual leader in you; to ignite your playful and authentic inner-ritualist. You will get a taste of just how easy it is to bring big and meaningful rituals into your life as well as smaller every-day practices. We all, as humans, have both the need and capacity for powerful ritual. We invite you to delve into the principles of ritual creation while also, together as a community, play with us in ritual space.
