Community Presentations

Our one- to two-hour presentations about rites of passage around the world and within our own culture.

Honoring Life Transitions

Throughout history, indigenous peoples have developed rituals and ceremonies to help make sense or celebrate a change in position, circumstance or relationship. Some sort of ritual often accompanies births, marriages and death. In addition, the transition from one life stage to the next is honored.

Whatever the transition, consciously creating initiatory experiences are essential for the health and well being of the individual and the strength and vitality of the community and culture. Yet, meaningful rite of passage experiences are nearly absent from American society. Understanding the implications of this absence is important as is creating new forms for our communities and ourselves. Journeys will explore, with your community, some cross-cultural examples of rites of passage and will look at attempts to honor transitions within contemporary communities.

Depending on the needs of your community we can give our ‘umbrella’ presentation on all of life stages or specialize and hone in on one of the following important transitions: Youth Transitions through Adolescence (this can be presented for youth or parents/adults), Adult Transitions, and Authentic Eldering.

To invite Journeys into your community for this fantastic presentation please call the office. Also, watch our Events Calendar for upcoming scheduled ‘Honoring Life Transitions’ events.
