Getting Ready For Your Program
As you make your preparations, we ask that you consider treating this workshop as if you were going on an overnight retreat. Try not to schedule other activities on Saturday and Sunday evening, as this will deepen your connection for the weekend and help you better integrate your learning afterward.
Here’s a list of items we encourage you to have on hand during the workshop:
Notebook and pen/pencil
Handouts from this link: -- we recommend printing them but at least be able to access them during the course
A small object to use as a talking piece
A bowl to catch burning/burnt paper, matches or lighter
A drum, rattle, bells or chimes (optional)
Incense (optional)
Paper and colored pencils to draw (optional)
Snacks and beverages to help your body stay grounded, energized and focused
An open heart and mind
Design your ritual space:
Do your best to create a comfortable, safe, and uninterrupted place. We recognize this isn’t always possible, but it greatly helps toward the best possible experience.
During this weekend of building intimacy together as a circle of emerging ritualists, for the safety of one another, we ask that you plan to be visible on zoom during most of our time together.
Build an altar:
Your home altar is the spiritual heart of your at-home ritual space and is crucial to gathering your own ritual energy; make this altar small to moderate in size, nearby and as personal as you can with items like colorful cloth, sacred candles, important objects, and pictures of loved ones.
Your altar should feel beautiful to you. Try and include the below items without making your altar feel cluttered. Use your intuition to guide you.
A candle that can continue burning during our time together (larger than a tealight) & lighter or matches. We will light this in ceremony together
Items to remind you of your personal relationships to the beings of the three times: past ancestors, present allies, and future beings yet to be born (optional- use your intuition to guide you)
A meaningful item that symbolizes each of the 4-elements - air, fire, water, and earth such as:
a feather for air, incense, or images of wind and clouds and air, etc.
another candle for fire, an object with a fire symbol, or an image of the sun, etc.
a small bowl or chalice of water, images of water or sea creatures or a shell, etc.
for earth, a stone, bit of dirt, plant, a live plant or flowers or crystal, etc.
Ritual Clothing:
You are welcome to have on hand any ritual clothing or sacred regalia, like a special shawl, hat, cape, feathers, or jewelry, that helps you to enter ritual space and time.
We look forward to working with you in a playful and supportive learning community. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact either of us.

Zoom link: you’ll get an email reminder the day before the ceremony with the Zoom link (which is also here on this page, above).
Sign in early (10-15 minutes) and make sure everything is working. We have a full schedule and plan to start right on time.
When you Login, you will start out in the Waiting Room. While here, please:
Make your User Name correct, and please add your personal pronouns. ex. “Tamara Walker (she/her)” You can change your user name by clicking the icon in the upper corner of your video square.
Turn on your Video. You can find the toggle in the lower left corner of the screen.
Mute your microphone. You can find the toggle in the lower left corner of the screen. Remember to un-mute when it is your turn to speak! The facilitators will explain how speaking will be organized at the very beginning of the session.
Please don’t use the Chat until your presenter explains how that feature will be used for this gathering. It is often used as a way to ask questions, and to distribute instructions.
