Getting Ready For Your Program

Space and special materials
As part of the course we will work on arranging the space we are using ceremonially. To begin, please create your center spot, or altar spot, where you can assemble symbolic items. Ideally this is within reach/sight as you participate on Zoom (though the class does not need to be able to see it). A space up to two feet in diameter will be plenty. Also, please find three items for this altar:

  1. something to represent the wider (natural) world of your place

  2. something to represent the people (living and passed) who support you in your life.

  3. Something to represent some portion of your adolescent self

We will continue to add to this altar space throughout the weekend.

As you make your preparations, we ask that you consider treating this workshop as if you were going on an overnight retreat. Try not to schedule other activities on Saturday and Sunday evening, as this will deepen your connection for the weekend and help you better integrate your learning afterward.

Weekend Schedule

  • Saturday 9am-11:30am

  • Saturday 2pm-4pm

  • Saturday Evening 6pm-8pm (Optional)

  • Sunday Morning 9am-11:30am

  • Sunday Afternoon 1pm-3pm

Zoom Login Guidance and Instructions

Please plan on loggin in to the waiting room about 5 minutes early so that we can get started right at 9am. We’re learning a lot about how to conduct classes and workshops on-line through Zoom! The Zoom link for this gathering is above, please test it well in advance of the starting time. Here are a few tips that we’ve found help things go smoothly:

  • Zoom link: you’ll get an email reminder the day before the ceremony with the Zoom link (which is also here on this page, above).

  • Sign in early (10-15 minutes) and make sure everything is working. We have a full schedule and plan to start right on time.

  • When you Login, you will start out in the Waiting Room. While here, please:

    • Make your User Name correct, and please add your personal pronouns. ex. “Tamara Walker (she/her)” You can change your user name by clicking the icon in the upper corner of your video square.

    • Turn on your Video. You can find the toggle in the lower left corner of the screen.

    • Mute your microphone. You can find the toggle in the lower left corner of the screen. Remember to un-mute when it is your turn to speak! The facilitators will explain how speaking will be organized at the very beginning of the session.

  • Please don’t use the Chat until your presenter explains how that feature will be used for this gathering. It is often used as a way to ask questions, and to distribute instructions.
