Getting Ready For Your Program
If you are able, please send a photo to rparish@naropa.edu of an item/photo that speaks to you of your lineage. It would be great to receive the photos by Thursday the 13th. This can be from your human ancestors by blood, adoptive kinship ties, collective impact, or struggles--and/or your more-than-human ecological ancestors from the lands of your human ancestors and the places they were shaped by.
Please review this 3- page handout on Social Rank & Identity, and take some time to complete the reflection questions.
Please review these Working Agreements. In our first session together, we will review these and invite additions. If there is anything that you do not feel you can agree to, please contact darcy@youthpassageways.org ahead of time.
Please review the Youth Passageways’ Cross Cultural Protocols in Rites of Passage. This living document is currently undergoing a revision process; nonetheless, it reflects a starting point for how we will be engaging with one another as a group.
Here is a list of Working Definitions of Commonly-Used Terms. This is a resource for you throughout the weekend and beyond, and it’s a fairly extensive list. If you like to read definitions, please feel free to peruse! If that’s not your thing, it’s available as a reference over the course of the weekend if/when terms are used, and you want to be clear what we mean. We welcome feedback on these definitions!
Please set up a comfortable, quiet space to be on the calls over the course of the weekend.
As you are able, please gather paper, pen, colored crayons/pencils/pens, and some thread or yarn close by to have on hand during our time together.
Clear off a corner of your home, a space outside, or even a corner of your desk for an ancestral altar, and clear out your time as best as you can to be in ceremony throughout our time together (including in between sessions). You may choose to place items on your ancestral altar in preparation for our first call, or leave the space cleared. If you do add items, be thoughtful to invite in only those ancestors who are whole and healthy, and ready to partner with us in healing.
Before we gather for the first call, please take 15-20 minutes, preferably outside if you are able (if you are not able, perhaps you sit close to a window, or a house plant). Take a few deep breaths and connect with the land; share why you are giving your weekend to this process. Invite in any further guidance about your intentions for our time together.
There will be practices offered for participants to engage with in between call times. We encourage participants not to schedule anything else from the time we begin until we complete our weekend together.

Zoom Login Guidance and Instructions
We’re learning a lot about how to conduct classes and workshops on-line through Zoom! The Zoom link for this gathering is above, please test it well in advance of the starting time. Here are a few tips that we’ve found help things go smoothly:
Zoom link: you’ll get an email reminder the day before the ceremony with the Zoom link ( https://zoom.us/j/7384129890 Over the phone: +16699006833; 738 412 9890)
Sign in early (10-15 minutes) and make sure everything is working. We have a full schedule and plan to start right on time.
When you Login, you will start out in the Waiting Room. While here, please:
Make your User Name correct, and please add your personal pronouns. ex. “Tamara Walker (she/her)” You can change your user name by clicking the icon in the upper corner of your video square.
Turn on your Video. You can find the toggle in the lower left corner of the screen.
Mute your microphone. You can find the toggle in the lower left corner of the screen. Remember to un-mute when it is your turn to speak! The facilitators will explain how speaking will be organized at the very beginning of the session.
Please don’t use the Chat until your presenter explains how that feature will be used for this gathering. It is often used as a way to ask questions, and to distribute instructions.
